“Open California! Open California! Chanted protesters near the beaches of Huntington Beach, which were closed on the orders of Governor Gavin Newsom after seeing an influx of people over the weekend.

The beaches in Los Angeles and San Diego counties have been closed for weeks, unlike those in Orange County, where Huntington and Newport Beach are located.

“All jobs are essential”, “freedom is essential”, could be read on signs.

Governor Gavin Newsom said on Friday that the press understood the frustration behind the protests and the “anxiety” of the protesters “about the economy and the future of their families.”

M. Newsom has said it will make announcements on containment measures in a few days.

“Take care of yourself,” he said to the demonstrators. “Wear a mask. Respect the physical distance […]. This disease makes no difference between a demonstrator, a democrat, a republican, “he urged.

California has recorded 91 recent coronavirus deaths 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 2073.

Similar demonstrations were also held in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.

On Thursday, armed demonstrators entered the Michigan State Capitol, where parliamentarians were gathered, to demand the easing of deconfinement measures.

The United States is by far the country most affected in the world by the COVID pandemic – 19, with over 64 00 0 dead and a million cases, and their economy is almost at a standstill.
