Matt Lauer, a familiar name in the media world who worked as an anchor in morning news “Today” by NBC Media is reported being fired from the company. This shocking news came after one of his female colleagues accused him of sexual misconduct during the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Right after that, NBC News fired him from his position in the company.
Matt’s behavior also remained same in the workplace even after the games had finished. NBC News has confirmed that too.
Moreover, two other women have come forward alleging Matt Lauer for the same matter. It has become so complicated that Matt can’t escape the circumstances.
Matt’s co-workers can’t even believe these words about his firing. They said that they didn’t know all of it before it came in public exposure.
Adding to all of it, NBC News chairman Andrew Lack prompted that the allegations against Matt were quite disturbing and they had deep reviews about that. After that, it seemed going beyond “the company’s standard.”
“Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences, no matter who the offender,” Lack addressed to media.
After the dismissal of Matt Lauer, Variety published a report on him stating that Matt was a serial harasser of female co-workers who had worked on the sets of “Today.”
They complained to everyone regarding this, but no one ever heard them. So, “Variety” came forward and took this matter to somewhat extent as the ladies expected.
Ari Wilkenfeld, the lawyer of the woman by whose accusation Matt was fired, said that NBC acted so quickly and he is proud that his client took a step forward against the misconduct with her.
“Our impression at this point is that NBC acted quickly, as all companies should when confronted with credible allegations of sexual misconduct in the workplace,” Wilkenfeld said. “While I am encouraged by NBC’s response to date, I am in awe of the courage my client showed to be the first to raise a complaint and to do so without making any demands other than the company do the right thing.”
Matt Lauer’s news of being fired aware us as many of the high-profile peoples coming into public aggregation regarding sexual misbehave in the field of Social, Film, and Politics. Well, it’s very shocking that Matt was one of them.
Matt hasn’t responded publicly yet to media about these accusations made and his firing from NBC Media Company.
