Alabama election: Democrat Doug Jones wins over Roy Moore

Alabama (US): Doug Jones has become first democrat to win any statewide office in decade, after a pungent campaign against Roy Moore  Republican, who has multiple allegation of sexual assault.

His victory was unexpected for US senate seats- with margin of 48-49 %, which blow Donald Trump, who backed Mr Moore and his effort to pass tax reform.

 

Why hasn’t Roy Moore win?

With 99% of the votes counted, Mr Moore refused to concede on Tuesday night. he said to his supporter ” We have been painted in an unfavourable and unfaithful light”, ” realise that whne the vote is this close that its not over”

Late Tuesday Moore was refused to concede the race, had been support until two women came forward to claim that Moore assaulted them when they were teenagers. Moore has denied all the allegation by women.

 

Although Mr Moore did not concede, President Trump congratulated Mr Jones in a tweet shortly after US media declared him the winner, adding that “Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time”.

 

 

 

Doug Jones emerged to euphoric reception.” Folks, I gotta tell you, I think that I have been waiting all my life and now I just don’t know what the hell to say,” he said, in the beginning of speech ” i have always believed that people of Alabama had more in common than what would divide us” This election was never been about him or Roy Moore “This entire race has been about dignity and respect. This campaign has been about the rule of law. This campaign has been about common courtesy and decency and making sure everyone in this state, regardless of what zip code you live in, is going to get a fair shake.” he said

His speech was end with cheers and applause and shout of “USA… USA”
